Light House

A complete re-working of a 1980's cliff-side bungalow on Salt Spring Island, BC. Extensive renovations were undertaken to modernize the house, maximize views to the ocean-front context, as well the addition of a new second floor master suite.

Careful incisions were conceived in the house - incorporating portions of the existing roofline - in order to create panorama views and open-concept spaces. A new contemporary "gable" emerges from the existing overhangs - creating a new skylit volume in the otherwise squat house. Daylight and views are maximized through custom-designed and handmade wood lift & slide doors and floor-to-ceiling windows.
